BFA is just as easy to use as the Low-Tech stuff if you're using GCA and the right GDFs and some people find it conceptually easier. To each their own, but this appears to be my personal bugaboo.

Well, I probably misspoke as I was thinking of my own house ruled take on Low Tech Armor, which is 'use low tech armor chart, but use basic set hit locations, and do not take partial hit locations or I will beat you, so there is torso, there is groin, and there is no abdomen, and noone is buying forearms or shoulders, there is arm or there is not arm, buy one or the other'

I pretty much use Excel and I find it makes Low Tech armor an absolute breeze to cost and weight, since all it is 'multiply these things and sum'

All the different bulk levels and such definitely make BFA at least look intimidating to me though. Its not like Low Tech which has 'select a percentage from column table A, multiply it by the cost and weight in table B, and done you is! Or apply modifiers as needed, which are just multiplying the cost and weight by other numbers!'

edit - admittedly, I don't use GCA. I can make a character better with notepad than with GCA, and better with Excel than notepad

You can absolutely use BFA that way: basic hit locations, multiply desired DR by $/DR and lbs/DR and sum of location coverage. That's how I use it 90% of the time.

Bulk only really comes into play when you're going for over the top armor (ie, DR10+) which is rare, or when you're playing someone that isn't SM 0. But I contend it gives more reasonable results for pixies and ogres than the DF3 scaling rules or the Low-Tech scaling rules. It's just a consistent way to say "how thick is this armor" for when that matters, which honestly isn't that often.

Ditto. Head, torso, arms, legs, hands, and feet. The partial hit locations are covered by the next closest armor, neck is covered by head or torso, groin by legs, etc.

Again, ditto.

All my characters start on Notepad, tab formatted for Open Office, then get copypasted into OF to check the maths and move things around more easily. Also I have custom built OF character and NPC sheets I print them out on...

I'm hopefully going to be running an After the End game soon, so I wrote up a cheat sheet for skills, advantages, and attributes in ATE:

Nice! I think seeing the player advice "inverted" like this gives a different perspective on things -- and also makes it easier to players to decide whether to add certain traits.

I ran the first session of my Nu World game last night. The PCs found an escape pod from a space craft with a sorta-dead astronaut in it, and then had to fight off a bunch of Redeemers to stake their claim.

I've kept running sessions of Nu World, my After the End game, and sometimes I remember to write them up on my blog. The write-ups are here:
http://noschoolgrognard.blogspot.com...bel/Nu%20World

My latest interest is a possible campaign meant to justify my purchase of GURPS Mass Combat. I talk about the campaign here:
http://noschoolgrognard.blogspot.com...n-concept.html

One possible issue with the new campaign is having multiple PC commanders. I wrote up some house rules for that situation here:

I had an inspiration last night: use the Investigation rules from Monster Hunters for intelligence chief's attempts to gather and evaluate intelligence. It turned out to be more complicated than that, but it gives the intelligence chief more to do that just roll dice in the reconnaissance contest, and I'm pleased with the results. It probably needs more review and play-testing, but it's a good first draft.

I had some thoughts on the weaknesses of Named Possessions from the Fantasy rulebook. They're basically magic items that grow with your character but they have some issues. I tried to address them:
