Default Request clarifications on Hireling Spyke and "affect"

A player whom Spyke is facing "cannot play any cards that affect you"

That seems to me very broad, and would like to know limits of that interpretation.

I imagine that would easily apply to curses as well as GUAL cards.

But does that apply to Wandering Monsters? Monster Enhancers? Mate? Mommy? Out To Lunch? (Thereby potentially denying the player with Spyke the winning level.) Because I interpret those types of cards as affecting the Monsters, not the Munchkin.

So, I think the distillation of my question is: Is there is a distinction between "affecting you" and "affecting the monsters?"

Also, if there is a card that affects more than one player, like the Income Tax curse (I think it's called) or Divine Intervention, is it the case that the player Spyke is facing cannot play those kinds of cards at all if the player who has Spyke would be one of the ones affected?
