Default Challenge: Non-US Patriotic Supers

I've got an idea in my head for the superhero game I'm in that countries other than the United States, Russia, and United Kingdom have their own "national heroes" (the "official" American, Russian, and British heroes being renewed versions of Captain America, Red Guardian, and Union Jack, respectively). Unfortunately, I'm not sure that I can come up with heroes that are not unfortunate and inaccurate stereotypes.

So here's the challenge: Take 1000 points with a disad cap of -150 points and produce a patriotic hero from a nation that is not listed above.

So do you want them to be archetypes or not?

I could try making a hero such as a super-Banderian, or a super-kozak of some sort, or even the mythical Pearoller remade for a supers setting. What do you want?

I want patriotic supers who are not stereotypes of the nations they're patriots of. That make sense? Beyond that, be creative.

Well, do you want them to be archetypes of the nation's typical heroes?

So, just make any super, but throw in something between Fanaticism [-15] and Patriotic [-1]?

Or are you wanting supers already present in the comic books from other nations, but converted to GURPS?

Molokh: I'm not quite sure what you mean by "archetype", as every time I see that word I start thinking "caricature" or "stereotype". If what you mean is a hero who tries to present an ideal of the nation's values, then yes.

younglorax: I tend to think of a "patriotic" hero in one of three veins: The first is one who is trained and commissioned by the government of the nation to act as its "official national hero". The second is one who is operating as an agent of the people against an oppressive government. The third is as I described above: a hero who tries to present an ideal of the nation's values.

There's a lot of room in those three for heroes across the spectrum.

All this is then is a few disadvantages, fitted to a standard super.

People are having trouble with what you mean. Do you mean you want characters with signature nationalist flavour but who are not blatant stereotypes? Sort of like 'Red Star' a Chinese super-athlete who now works for the Shanghai police, but not 'Fu Manchuk', white-mustachioed Shaolin sage spouting Kung Fu mysticism?

Here's 1500 point British Superhero I put together for another thread. I imagine her as kind of a cross between Margaret Thatcher and James Bond. You could pretty easily tone down her powers to get her closer to 1000 points.

EDIT: Ohhhh, other countries, didn't see that England was already listed up there...

use countrymen that have made significant discoveries or theories based on accredited sciences or fields.

How about a Psionic or Mind Powered hero/heroine from Vienna ?

A hero that can summon walls and items from China ?

How about a combination hero who takes the best from two somewhat similar cultures that are in close proximity ? Such as an over-populated area of the world where the hero can blend in and look like anyone in a crowd (disguise and stealth).

etc, etc.
