Default New TFT Adventure - The Curse of Katiki-Mu

If you're looking for something to do this holiday season, why not gather some friends and break a horrible curse? The Curse of Katiki-Mu is a new adventure for The Fantasy Trip, available now in PDF.

Nice job!

One question - I don't see an entrance into chamber 15. Based on the description, there are only two possibilities, and it's no big deal for me to add one, but I figured I'd bring it up.

Ack, sorry, my bad (I'm the author). That is an error and goes all the way back to the rough version of the illustration I submitted along with the manuscript.

The entrance is a door is on the west side of the megahex, and the door is described in Room 14 ("There is an unlocked door on the far side of the room.")

Reading it right now at work (It's Friday of finals week, really a dead time for libraries), loving the Pulp Era feel to it.

I've contacted SJG and they're looking into it.

Awesome, that's very much what I was trying to inject into it. I really wanted to do something very different and almost uniquely TFT or "Cidrian". It's such a big sandbox that it seemed perfect for the concepts of Lost World, Ancient Civilization and so on. My list of inspirations include:
  • Tiki and Polynesian Culture
  • Artists such as El Gato Gomez and Mark “Topes” Thompson
  • Exotica music by Martin Denny, Les Baxter and others (GREAT to play in the background while playing this, btw!)
  • The Toho films Godzilla vs. Megalon and Atragon. Seriously!
  • The “Lost World” and “Subterranean” subgenres of old pulp fiction
  • The original In Search of... television series of the 70s

There's one more, but I'll keep it secret for now ;) I'm working on a "Designer's Notes" article that will delve into the awesome mysteries of writing a TFT adventure!

Thanks - it looks really good.

Do you have any character point guidance for the players?

With luck and smart decisions, 5-6 entry level characters should be able to mostly survive and prosper from the adventure; or 4-5 intermediate/experienced characters with a balanced mix of talent.

There are some powerful goings-on deeper in the caves, but not every problem has to be solved by the sword. I tried to leave it open for multiple solutions to the challenges. Hirelings might be useful, but tunnels are narrow!

If the player group is small and/or new, the GM might choose to scale back the encounters a bit. But if that same group is foolhardy and overconfident, there will be blood. Just ask Cadakee how well that worked for him and his party!

I will most likely have the TABOO album by Arthur Lyman as the back ground music for it.
