Me: "Hyperbole is a lost art."
Other: "I don't know what that means."
Me: "I know."

Raquel: “How many evil witches do you know that wear a pink outfit?”

--

GM: “Make a perception check.”
Raquel: “Ten, by three.”
Har’Ron: “Ten, by two.”
Daska: “Ten, by four.”
Melissa: “I don’t notice anything. Seventeen.”

--

Daska: “Can anyone speak python?”
Raquel: “The reptile or the programming language?”

--

Raquel: “Daska, hold my hat. I’ll dive in as well.”
Daska: “I’ll put it on. (Whispering) Not Slytherin—not Slytherin.”

--

Raquel (OOC): “Close enough for government work—nothing personal Melissa.”

--

Daska: “I put the hat back on Raquel and ask: ‘why did it keep asking what house I wanted?’”
GM (OOC): “Well, we know that Melissa is a Hufflepuff.”

--

Raquel: “After a minute, the [combat boost] spell fades.”
GM: “And that’s when the ambush happens.”
Raquel: “And I can cast it again—because this ain’t D&D.”

--

Daska: “It’s like a slumber party!”
Raquel: “It’s like a slumber party—in an eighty’s teen slasher movie.”

In a Wuxia campaign, as one character is trying to figure out how to improvise a wagon to drag a huge beastie's corpse back to town.

"I've got Craft-18 that says I can put wheels on a sheep."

Lars: “Man down!”
Raquel: “On it!”
<beat>
Raquel: “Is this what it’s like to be a Mercy-main?”

--

Raquel (OOS): “These things are kicking our [butts].”
GM: “They’re supposed to. They’re taking longer due to all the ablative DR.”
Raquel (OOC): “Then they’re attacking the wrong target.”

--

<GM rolls 16>
Raquel (OOS): “That doesn’t look good.”
<GM rolls 6>
Raquel (OOS): “That also doesn’t look good . . . for the other reason.”

--

Skald (OOC): “I wanted the power to be like the Pokémon power, Scald. If you know what that is. [Raquel] had to look it up.”
Melissa (OOC): “It’s super-effective.”

--

Raquel: “Beat it down like a magma-headed step-child.”

--

Raquel: “That magma guy was hit twice by the water cannon, did it solidify?”
GM: “No, it’s like that ice cream topping that makes the hard shell.”
Daska (OOS): “Magic shell.”
GM: “Yeah, it’s inside full of creamy goodness. Or, in this case, burny-badness.”
Melissa (OOS): “Burny Badness is my band name.”

--

<After a Critical hit>
GM: “Thirteen.”
Raquel: “If any damage penetrates DR, it’s a major wound.”
GM: “Spoiler alert: it’s going to be a major wound.”
<GM proceeds to roll 17 damage on a 3d attack>aw

--

Har’Ron: “Ten. And ten again. What happens if I roll ten one more time?”
GM (OOC): “You go directly to jail.”

"So the necromancer is the only one who failed his save v. death?"

"Of course. He's the one who's on his fourth character."

"Can I be a tank?" is probably the most repeated quote from roleplaying among my friends.

Rosemarie (OOC): "Does it require a special license to pilot a BattleMech."
Caleigh (OOC): "Owning a BattleMech is license enough."
GM (OOC): "Yeah, your [BattleMech] is a fifty-five ton love-letter to the Second Amendment."

--

Sateen: "My 'Mech has three, different sorts of ammo?"
GM: "Yeah."
Sateen: "That doesn't sound good."
GM: "Think of it as a rescue flare. If your ammo goes off, you'll be visible from orbit."

While discussing/explaining how to do a GURPS BattleTech game:

Mark Skarr: "And remember: Just because you can create a psychic blueberry muffin as a character . . . there's no reason a GM would let you."
Sweetooth: "but why not sounds totally legit"
Mark Skarr: "While there is a much more specific answer, the short answer is: It doesn't fit into the story the GM wants to tell."
dunami5: "One could argue when the DM had session 0 with his/her players they all agreed on a campaign revolving around a bakery and its mutated goods :P"
Mark Skarr: "If that's what the game is going to be about, then that would be fine. But, BattleTech/Mechwarrior is not known for psychic powers, sapient baked goods nor any combination of the two."
