Rolling Dice and Re-rolling (Timing)
Do Over! : play after dice are rolled to re-roll any or all of them.
Scroll of Luck: play before dice are rolled -- gain an extra die and afterward you can re-roll any one of them. I'm guessing that if you used the Scroll you'd have to decide if you wanted to use its re-roll before you could use the Do Over! (or, theoretically, an opponent could use a Loaded Die)? Ie., you cannot "interrupt" the Scroll of Luck. Yes?

Re: Rolling Dice and Re-rolling (Timing)
I would think that's the best way to handle it. At the same time, it would seem wise to use up those re-rolls first, yes? Do Over! only works on "your roll," or any roll?

And it would seem wise, but I am sure someone can think of a reason one might've wanted to wait for a total re-roll before using the single re-roll. Oh, here's one: say you need a 14 or better on your roll. You've got 3 dice, plus 1 for the Scroll, and come up all 1's. That single re-roll is useless to you (a 9 still isn't good) and it'd be nice to hold it until after you re-roll all 4, as that re-roll might then be useful (your re-roll comes to 12, being a 6, 2, 3, and 1).

Re: Rolling Dice and Re-rolling (Timing)
Do you know what system is really bad for dice rolls?
Fighting Fantasy game books. I never play the combats out anymore. Roll 2d6, test your luck, test your skill, test your this, test your that... roll 1 die add blah blah blah! Roll for yourself and your opponent... etc... roll again to determine your hit scores... roll 2 dice. |
