Default Humongous + Twisty Tunnel

Is it possible to play Humongous on a monster inside the Twisty Tunnel? Normally Huge monsters are not allowed to enter or appear inside the Twisty Tunnel, but Humongous makes an already existing monster Huge. Therefore it technically follows the letter of the rule, since the monster was already there, so it didn't just "appear" as it was already there, nor did it enter while it was Huge. Or does this count as the monster "appearing", and so the monster would be immediately discarded? Or is playing Humongous on a monster inside the Twisty Tunnel simply not allowed?

By the strict reading of the room, I'd say the newly Humongous monster would be discarded and a new monster drawn to replace it.

I have to disagree the "appears" applies to a drawn monster. When you enter a new tile or via wandering monster card.
BUT
I'd allow a redraw of a monster if you use humgious on it because thats funny as hell and makes for a great idea.

Appears/appearing means "is present" in this case. The official answer, as given by Andrew and iterated by me is that the Humongous Monster must be discarded and replaced.

Or you could argue that the monster simply gets stuck in there and can't move around anymore..

You could, but you'd be wrong: Erik and I are the people tasked with making official rules calls, and we've made it in this case.
