Default Renaissance Florence

I'm looking for more resources on this period for an upcoming game based on Matt Riggsby's Hot Spots: Renaissance Florence and Pyramid #10 article On de Medici's Secret Service.

I'm working my way through the bibliography in Hot Spots and would love any additional material.

However, I can't ask most of my players to read a library section (which I'm heading out to do Monday). In fact, one of them is functionally illiterate. So, are there any films that give some background details, or even have a suitable feel?

Unrelatedly, I am now recruiting new players.

The movie Prince of Foxes is based on an excellent novel set in Renaissance Italy. I haven't seen the film, but it might be good.

There was a TV series based on the memoirs of Benevenuto Cellini that I saw and enjoyed, but I see on IMDB that the version with English subtitles was released only in Australia.

There are also more-or-less accurate biopics about Michelangelo and Leonardo da Vinci, such as The Agony and the Ecstasy. The best I have seen have been Italian TV series like La vita di Leonardo Da Vinci. But even the best of those tend to focus on art rather than intrigue, politics, war, and adventure.
