Re: Colors of Magic
No, but I have thought of making classes of spells for a Wizard to choose which class he belongs to. Then those spells are cheaper to cast.
I rather not encourage magic with fighters. Instead I was looking for ways to make magic cheaper to cast. I never used it though. |

Re: Colors of Magic
Dark City Games divided up the spells in different schools, did they not? I kind of liked that idea.
Maybe do both. Everyone chooses a school/type of magic, or you have some sort of talent for each school that cost 1 for everyone. Then you get spells from that school at a 1 point rebate. Either 2 spells for one if you are a wizard or only pay 2 if you are a hero. One could also change the costs of spells to be a little bit cheaper. Some spells rarely gets used because they are just prohibitively expensive unless you are a very mana invested wizard. But even then, there are some spells that really should be cheaper. The good thing would also be that wizards had a theme. And we would see more odd spells, because the wizard got them as bonus spells from their different schools. If the arch nemesis wizard was fire specialized then maybe Magic Rainstorm would be a good investment. |

I would write this up, alone or in collaboration, if there were interest in the idea. But my impression is there isn't. |
