Default An alternative to attribute totals to compare characters

As ITL 16 says "But note that many really exceptional individuals will have a stat total of 36 or less, but augment it by knowing many, many more spells or talents than they started with."

So I made a calculator to judge how many hundreds of XP (CP) it would take to build a character up from zero attributes and zero gear.

Just enter a valid character and this will determine the CP for you. (If you enable Javascript.)

Nice job!

100 XP = 1 CP does simplify things.

Way cool!

And certainly useful under the new ITL rules. I think I liked the old days better, when you knew two 40 AP characters had to have earned exactly the same XP to become 40 point characters.

Now with Talents, Spells and even wealth acting like tax shelters for "hiding" XP, comparing veteran characters requires a computer! LOL

Outstanding. Though Quick Draw deleted all previous Talents

Thanks, fixed that bug which was caused by JS version not having all the features of the PHP version of the table.

As I've never been into awarding XP (I just gave Att points when an adventure was over) the new system is of no use to me. Even ignoring that fact, I prefer the cleanness of the old ways where, as Steve says, you knew where you were with 2 characters of the same Att total. I like the simplicity of TFT and this adds fudge that doesn't appeal to me at all.

Added Mana (yet another reason for Wizards to take ST as a dump stat, and hence topple the balance of the triangle system.)

Haha! I'd have loved playing in one of your groups Chris! I lived and breathed for that next Attribute Point for my characters. At the end of the day it seemed like the whole reason to play the game. I couldn't possibly enforce the new XP rules if I start a new group -- I'd have hated playing under those rules back in the day.

Now I'm putting this new point under DX -- I'm tired of missing those rolls. No, wait! I can upgrade my weapon to broadsword if I put it under ST. Yeah baby, I'll be doing 2d6 damage next time! That could be 12 hits! Yeah, that's what I'll do.... oh wait a minute, 3 characters died today because I missed that roll to disbelieve, so Id better put it on IQ. I mean it's only 9, I feel so dumb, I should get it to 10. Hang on, if it goes on DX I could probably switch to chainmail and and and...

I was like a kid in a candy store store when I made 100 XP :)

This is brilliant. I am going to do this now.

As far as mana staff goes, offer 1 new att point or 2 mana staff initially. Then based on the approximate equivalent, change the ratio. Or every couple of att points the ratio goes up by one.
