Gun damage
The formula I use is to divide bullet energy by 100j then take the square root.
That gives you the number of dice, with fractional parts adding or subtracting a few points. For example .303 rifle is 3.5kj so comes to six dice. Roll for hit location and ignore all damage past what's needed to cripple the limb. The rest blows through. 5.56×45mm NATO is 1.75kj or 4d+1 .45 Colt is 610j or 2d+2

That scans, and is basically consistent with the suggestion in TFT that a 45 should do about 3 dice damage.
