Default Disarm

Is disarm an “attack” that would let me make it Deceptive?

On B401 it mentions DB “provides no benefit whatsoever”, does that apply to parry? As written it’s a bit ambiguous to me, since it’s in a paragraph that also deals with retreat specifically.

Disarm is an attack and you can do all the usual tricks like All-Out Attack and Deceptive Attack and so on with it, yes.

The 'no benefit whatsoever' thing is for both dodging or parrying specifically when defending your weapon. The paragraph just before that says that you can't use a shield to Block an attack on your weapon; the note about DB is telling you that your shield's passive defense bonus also won't help you Parry or Dodge the attack. Basically, shields just don't help at all against attacks that are aimed at your weapon.

Is there anything about defending an attempt to disarm a Buckler?

MA112, dodge or block without DB (that for all shields)

B401's "You can only parry using the weapon that was attacked" is actually kinda strange now that I think of it...

If it's possible to deflect an attack aimed at your left hand using your right hand's sword, then why couldn't the right hand's sword deflect an attack aimed at your left hand's dagger?

It doesn't sound like it should be impossible, just that it should be progressively more difficult as other weapons get bigger since that's further away you need to parry (like a sacrificial parry).

I think the idea is that your weapon is 'forward', like, you're holding it up to shoot or ahead to strike or whatever, so it's a little bit in front of your guard.

Given that logic, I might let someone parry with their other hand to defend a weapon that's currently unreadied or something, but not being able to quickly interpose another weapon in front of your sword or whatever mid-combat makes a kind of sense.

I get why a C-range dagger couldn't defend an attack on the tip of a Reach 1 sword (can't even reach it) but the dagger is behind the sword, so using long weapons to defend against closer weapons could be a thing.

If the lack of penalty when you are attacked is because you are closest to you, then maybe it should be -1 to parry weapons per each hex the weapon occupies, only if weapon is shorter than parrying weapon.
