Default [New Release] Pyramid #3/66: The Laws of Magic

"Poke at the fabric of the universe; what's the worst that could happen?"
-- Last words of Nevets H'sram the Mage

This month's Pyramid -- Pyramid #3/66: The Laws of Magic -- is for those who want to mess with magic in a structured way. It includes two articles in support of GURPS Thaumatology: Ritual Path Magic: one that provides support for specialist practitioners of Ritual Path magic, and another supplement-sized feature that shows how you can combine the Ritual Path magic system with GURPS Powers: Divine Favor, options from GURPS Thaumatology, and more.

Messing with the laws of the universe is fun . . . and it's easier than ever, thanks to this issue of Pyramid. Pick it up individually, or subscribe today for many more months of enchanting editions!

Awesome - I've been waiting for this one.

I just finished glancing through the first article, and I noted a few little typo-y niggles. First, the '¥' symbol that's typically replaced with '×' isn't in any of the 'typical casting' sections (evident on pages 5, 8, and 9). Second, in the 'About the Author' section of the first article on page 14, my name's mildly misspelled (oops!): it should be 'Jeffrey "Langy" Head', not 'Jefferey'.

Anyways, as mentioned I've been waiting for this issue for a while now - love the first article, and the material enchanting article is likewise pretty awesome. I haven't looked in detail at the others yet, but I'm happy to say I continued my subscription for yet another year to pick this up.

Just finished that first article myself. It is truly excellent, and will benefit my MH game tremendously, as well as other games I'm including RPM. Meanwhile, I finally worked things out with my mom, who got me a late birthday present of a subscription to Pyramid -- feeling guilty, she bought two years worth!

Wait! They are finally allowing gift purchases of digital products?

I would assume that he simply logged into his account and then had his mother make the purchase. That has always been an option, after all.

That's exactly how I bought my Gurps stuff. As long as everyone trusts each other to only use credit card information for good, it's fine.

You are correct! Unfortunately, there's still no gift option. But my mom was around visiting her granddaughter, so the timing worked out. Needless to say I was surprised with her generosity -- I was expecting a 3 month subscription. Instead, I got two 12 month subscriptions! Awesome! As I've said in the past, even issues I am ostensibly "not interested in" have had at least one article that was directly useful to me, plus several more that were fun to read. 24 more months! (My last subscription just ended this month.)

P.s., I got to read your article as well. Much will be incorporated into my MH game. I'm also using material from Horror and Zombies. With the MH genre books and the other two, I simply could not resist...

(I started the MH campaign, but only because we were having trouble getting a quorum for a different game. I got to the point where I wanted to make certain everyone who wants in on my MH campaign is present going forward. So I came up with the brilliant idea to have a DF game as a standby for times when we're lacking the quorum for an ongoing game. DF is perfect for it, since it's (a) fun and (b) generic enough that characters can simply "turn up" in another adventure as needed.)

The "Stabilizing Skill" perk on page 10 of this issue says that casters who want to have that covering all spells should take two levels of the Stable Casting enhancement.

...Stable Casting isn't a leveled enhancement.

Did the reference to two levels perhaps get copied into that perk from the similar section for "Discreet Ritual"?

YARGH. Please submit that to errata.

Sigh. That's a mistake. Please send it in as errata.
