Default INWO: Custom Cards

So I've recently gotten back into playing some Illuminati NWO, and have undertaken making a bunch of custom cards for "new" things. People on here had some really good ideas on here I've nicked, so thanks for those! Thanks to everyone who came up with cards/helped me balance card ideas I had, and thanks to Plasmoid for the awsome photoshop templates to make the cards look real! Aslo special thanks to Plasmoid and Rockman, who did the most wok on these cards.

The next things I planned on doing were re-doing the better bunch of the cards I had made up with my ex-wife for our little "war on Terror" mini set... Some of them were a little unbalanced, so I thought I'd post the text here and get your oppinions on them before re-doing the cards!

PLOT CARDS

(Northern Alliance)
-------------------

Play this card immediatly after receiving your actions for the turn.
Remove ANY three Violent or Criminal groups (regardless of who controls them!), who's power each is three or less, from play. They do not count as destroyed for any goal. If any of the groups had puppets they may become puppets of the removed cards master (if there is room), if not they are retunred to the owners hand.
These groups have become the Northern Alliance. their power is equal to the total of the three groups removed from play's power, their resistance is one, and they are Violnet and Criminal.
This requires sll the Actions of your Illuminati (minimum of one).

((this card has three control arrows on it. We were never sure if this card was really over powered or what... sometimes it seemed to be so, and some times it seemed to be fairly balanced as is))

Terror Alert

"The terror alert has been risen, causing mass paranoia and fear!"
Play this card at the beginning of any players turn. No attacks (except for disasters) may take place this entire turn. The automatic take over still takes place.
This card requires either an action from your illuminati or action(s) from conservative groups with power equaling 6 or higher.

Smartest Guys In The Room (this is an Enron Refrence)

Play on any corporate group when it is destroyed. before being destroyed it gets to make one last attack to destroy any other corporate or bank group. this attack does not require an action, but any groups wishing to aid in the attack must use an action token as normal.
The group that Smartest Guys In The Romm is played on does not count as being destroyed for anyone's goals, but if it destroys a group before leaving play THAT card does count as being destroyed.

Coalition of The Willing

Play at the beginning of an attack by any nation that has power 4 or more.
Any number of nations may aid in this attack, regardless of their alignment, as long as they have power 2 or less.

Oil Pipeline Plan (an Afganistan reference)

Play this card at any time, even during an attack. Choose one nation, that nation is the most effective route for a new oil pipeline! until the end of the turn its resistance is 0 when being attacked for control by any other nation or Corporate group. this effect lasts until the end of the turn, even if the target changes hands.

WMD Accusation

Play to decalre any attack against a nation privilaged. this requires the action of a single Government group.
If the U.N. is in play they may choose to roll a die. On a roll of three or lower the attack is cancelled, and no groups get any of their action tokens back.

All Liberal, Green, and Peacful groups get a +6 to destroy any Violent, Conservative, or Fanatic group.

(I don't remember why we gave her the global power.... although I stick by the corporate alignment being thats where her career was and went back to. I was thinking though Bush should have some kind of bonus to control her... I mean... we all know how in Love she was. right?)

While G.W. is in play all Liberal and Green cards also become violent. If they were peacful they loose this alignment.

(so in retrospect, and my head not so far up my butt in the heat of the politics of the moment, I'm not sure if he should have the fanatic alignment. he seemed to get less fanatical during his second administration... coincidently this seems to be when he stopped listening to Cheney so much, I was thinking maybe the Cheney card should give all it's puppets the fanatic alignment? Also... should he be media? Also also, should his second ability, making Liberal and green groups violent, be instead like the Secular humanists, but for Liberals and Greens?)

Fox News Channel cannot be controlled by a Liberal group, and Fox News Channel can only control Media groups or personalities.
While Fox news Channel is in play all Media groups that are not already conservative must make a choice: either become Conservative (losing any Liberal alignment they may have had) or take a -1 to their power (This cannont being them bellow 1 power) and become Liberal (if not already).

Squirl Agent's Global Power is equal to the number of Government or Corporate groups they control.

Ah - it's so wonderful to see new and contemporary INWO cards again.
A small set on the current administration and the past one is so tempting.
As is a subset on the war on terror.
I like most of your cards. A few random ideas.

I kind of always wanted the presidency to be NWO based. That way, it could change hands and be fought over. Stuff like that. Not exactly sure how it should be done - just a thought.

Anyway, given the tradition to describe INWO groups throuh the eyes of their opponents, I definately think Obama should be communist. I also think he should have an oratory-like skill... Ignores opposed alignments when attacking to control? Some sort of bonus to destroy him could also be good. Perhaps let conservative fanatics have a big fat bonus to destroy him. Or make him liberal fanatic...

Cheney should definately give some bonus to his corporate puppets :)

And George W - I've always liked this one. And it's big:
"Government is now considered to opposite alignment to Fanatic. Fanatic is no longer opposed to fanatic, and no alignment is opposed to corporate. Any Fanatic government group loses the fanatic alignment".

Oh, All about the Benjamins seems a bit strong. There are a lot of big violent groups.
Also, IMO, Northern Alliance is a killer. I'd be quite upset if I lost 3 groups when an opponent played this card. Ouch.

You may have a point. My own reasoning in creating it was that"

1) It required (and drained) a number of Media actions off the top, which have a lot of other uses.

2) By removing the Violent tag, it made it more likely to weaken relations with a master or puppet, make it harder for the group to join in on certain traditional attacks or combinations, and make it less attractive to the Servants of Cthulhu.

Of course, in the hands of the Gnomes of Zurich, "All About the Benjamins" can become really nasty. :-D

I don't think All about the Benjamins is over powered at all. Sure there are a few situations that it would be REALLY good, versus just good, but there are TONS of decks it would be almost useless in. I think it's perfectly balanced the way it is.

As for the Norhtern Alliance, yeah... the way it is now just dosn't work. I still like the idea of the Northern Alliance being a plot card and not an actual group, but using it to combine only your own groups... well, would there really be a time when you'd be willing to give up three groups to get one? Anyone have any ideas on how to impliment this card?

I disagree with plasmoid that the INWO cards are made as if seen through their opponents eyes. I actually find that most of the cards are based in reality, or at least the most run of the mill stereotype of reality. I've always felt it's the place of plot cards and puppets/master abilities to make the more extreme loony theories/beliefs play out on the table. I can't see the Obama card actually ebing communist, but damn it would be fun to MAKE him so and play some shinanigins with that!

PLasmoid, as for G.W.'s suggested abilitiy, that feels morelike a NWO to me... although I like it a lot.

OK - you're right.
But INWO cards aren't always kind/fair. Sometimes they have sting.
I think it would be really cool to make him communist - besides, the game needs more communist groups :)

BTW love the here be dragons card!

Maybe Northern Alliance could join just 2 of your own groups, but make that card un-destroyable (indestructable, I know).

As for the "Benjamins" card, I'd use it in corporate deck, to create huuuge corporate groups by "turning" my own ATOs. Clone Arrangers at power 8 and New York at power 9 come to mind.

And yeah, My Bush ability was originally an NWO. Admittedly as a group acrd, it will clash with a lot of NWOs. You can see it with my other favourite homebrews, (graphics at the bottom):

Finally - back in the day (2004) I and a few others worked up a special useful place for each illuminati. I was thinking India could take Singapores ability, and Florida could take Bermudas ability. (Florida is part of the Bermuda Triangle too - right(?))

Hmmm... plasoid, how about this: instead of Obama being communist, a NWO that makes ALL liberals communist and gives them -1 power? That seems more in line with the current rhetoric against Obama anyways, and it would be a hella fun card.

Good to see some new cards being posted! Here's a set of three I made up (untested so far):

Brothers and Sisters

Type: NWO Red

Graphic: A bunch of banner-waving Christian types (as in Crusade, minus the zombie) facing off against a bunch of union workers (CFL-AIO) and Russians (Five-Year Plan).

Idealogical conflicts between church and state are at an all-time high!

The attributes Communist and Church are regarded as alignments for all purposes. Communist is the opposite of Church, and vice versa. A group cannot be both Communist and Church; if it ever has both, the group's owner decides which attribute to remove. The change is permanent while Brothers and Sisters is in play.

While this NWO is in play, all groups that normally give "any attempt" bonuses for attacks on Communist or Church groups grant the bonus only for direct attacks instead.

This card replaces any Red NWO card in play.

Spaceship Earth

Type: NWO Blue

Graphic: A bunch of environmental protesters keeping astronauts from their ship.

Environmentalists take up the banner of "Earth for Earthers", and the aerospace industry closes ranks...

The attributes Green and Space are regarded as alignments for all purposes. Green is the opposite of Space, and vice versa. A group cannot be both Green and Space; if it ever has both, the group's owner decides which attribute to remove. The change is permanent while Spaceship Earth is in play.

While this NWO is in play, all groups that normally give "any attempt" bonuses for attacks on Green or Space groups grant the bonus only for direct attacks instead.

This card replaces any Blue NWO card in play.

Paradigms Lost

Type: NWO Yellow

Graphic: A bunch of scientists in lab coats (Science Alarmists, etc) facing off against a bunch of magicians in starry robes and silly hats.

"Technologists have had their way for too long, and magicians are not gonna take it any more..."

A group cannot be both Science and Magic; if it ever has both, the group's owner decides which attribute to remove. The change is permanent while Paradigms Lost is in play.

While this NWO is in play, all groups that normally give "any attempt" bonuses for attacks on Science or Magic groups grant the bonus only for direct attacks instead.

This card replaces any Yellow NWO card in play.

Notes:

I put the bit in about "any attempt" bonuses because there are loads of cards to help attributes in this way and very few for alignments (due to the built-in bonus), so it might be unbalancing otherwise.

I put the bit in about not being both because of "Sufficiently Advanced Technology", plus any similarly awkward cards in future expansions.

The trouble with putting these two bits in is that the text is now pretty long! Any suggestions to cut it down appreciated.
