So this would be a Mirror version of Yrth. Do the mages have goatees?

/softly; I..I think that's some kind of rule....

Isn't it?

=D

An interesting idea for a parallel Yrth, none the less. But I'm an absolute 'fiend' for this type of genre. Put Parallel or the word alternate dimension on something, and I'll likely read, or watch it. =)

Hmm... I seem to be in a definate minority on this subject. It must be the way I approach my settings. IMO Yrth is enough of an alternate in and of itself, and the culture shock seems to me better represented through some other world. This is because Yrth is a representation of a "standard" fantasy world and is excellent for contrast against more, say, scientific worldviews. This way one gets to show the difference between the kind of society in each case. Now I'm not saying the idea is without merit, but I'm merely saying that the contrast between socities isn't strong enough and IMO would be better served through a different world. My personal choice would be to put the "standard" fantasy setting aginst retro sci-fi and watch the sparks fly.The reason is for the contrast.
