Mate card after Wizard's Charm spell
In a game of Munchkin earlier today I was fighting a tentacle monster, discarded my hand to charm it, and then another player used a Mate card to create a copy of it.
I could not run away because I charmed the original monster and was forced to fight the second monster. I was unable to beat the mate since it was as strong as the first monster, and so I died (the monster's "Bad Stuff"). Was playing mate there a valid move? I am an inexperienced player so I'm not that familiar with Mate or Charm interactions (and this one hasn't been covered in the subreddit, this forum, or in a Google searchable page as far as I could find). Edit: Relevant post I did not encounter until after posting this: http://forums.sjgames.com/showpost.p...9&postcount=17 Case closed, I think. Last edited by 7A65726F; 04-05-2014 at 11:08 PM. |

Re: Mate card after Wizard's Charm spell
Your friend cannot play Mate until your Wizard's Charm Spell has fully resolved. Once the charm resolves, the combat is continuing, but there are no monsters and Mate cannot be played (unless somebody plays Wandering Monster to continue the combat).
Having said that, it also seems you have made a mistake about running away. You always start fighting a monster as soon as you see it. If you can't beat it, then you Run Away and it might catch you. This is not a choice you can only make before combat, so you certainly can run away from additional monsters after using the Charm Spell. |
