Re: [ATE] Farming example
An article about floating farms that has enough similarity to an AtE farming setup to merit inclusion here.

One thing they left out, although they kinda hinted at it, was how much the ability to add wealth to a household increases the prestige of poor women in traditional societies. That, in turn, tends to result in slow improvements in social status, which can lead to social and political change if it goes on long enough. Since economics plays such a huge role in cultural, social and political change, it might be worth keeping in mind the role women and children would play in an AtE setting. The loss of technology and social order would impact their health, well-being and social status far, far more than it would for men. If the campaign takes place soon after the apocalypse (however that happened) those losses would drive incredible frustration and could result in the sort of conflicts that make for great plots.

Re: [ATE] Farming example
The farming focused research I've been doing frequently turns up information relating to how food production influences society. Most obvious are the economic effects of how people are allowed to farm and how land use is governed. This is true in lower technology locations where the average farm size relates to the average level of wealth at the bottom rungs of society. It is also obvious in higher technology locations where subsidies create inefficiencies.
The whole subject of how food influences society and vice versa is remarkably interesting, well at least to a deep diving world builder like myself.

Unfortunately, I fear most players would expect high-octane adventures that draw inspiration from Mad Max, and not so much a "phoenix from the ashes" campaign about the challenges faced during the thoughtful construction of a new society.

Re: [ATE] Farming example
This thread hasn't been forgotten, I have been doing some playtesting and fine tuning of the system I'm putting together to model farming outputs across the various TLs.
With material from Low-tech 3 and from some other sources I've had a fair bit of success making an economic/agricultural model to cover the primary production from a given area. Research continues, over all kinds of topics, Medieval peasant gardens, how many sheep are rooed to produce the wool required make a longboat sail and how long it took to spin and weave, (230+ manx style sheep and 9 and a bit man-years respectively) But if anyone has any post apocalyptic scenarios they want explored just post them here.

Adding in the third cheer. This may be my favorite thread in the forums. :)
