YMMV
Your opinions of THS are a matter of record, on these fora. :)

Correct. It's not proper to use terms like "retro-tech" or "alternate history" about stories told about the future that have turned out to fail at prediction. Sorry.

A different word is needed. Right now I can't think of a good one.

It's not an exact escience, sure.

I wasn't even going there. I was saying that Terradyne isn't retrotech...because it isn't retrotech. I just went through the tech section and everything in it is still solidly science fictional except for one thing that could be described as "retro"...the business model of the Terradyne web.

But their computers are crappier than the ones we have, even though (AFAIK) Terradyne takes place later than the year 2013. That is likely to generate a retro-tech'ish "feel".

No. They aren't. Admittedly I'd increase their by the book complexity by one to make them compatible with 4th edition Ultratech, but they aren't _worse_ than modern computers.

What about it? It's been a long, long time.

They basically charge you for everything you look at.

Okay, then I've misunderstood some of the earlier posts in this thread.

Re-write a bit of the future history, move it forward in time by 50 to 100 years for a start.

Upate the computer rules.

I have used Terradyne as a pre-cursor to Blue Planet and also as a lead up to Traveller 2300.
