Endgame strategy: Selling before you kick down the door.
This is probably an easy question, but if I'm level 7, can I sell 2k worth of items to get to 9 before kicking down the door at the start of my turn? Or does my turn begin with the kicking of the door?
There is no guarantee there is a monster with the kick, but I could just save a low-level monster in my hand and go looking for trouble if that's the case. |

Re: Endgame strategy
It's perfectly legitimate to do things like play Items or sell Items or play a new Race or Class before you kick down the door. This is stated in the rules:

Re: Endgame strategy
You juse can't sell once you're in combat, and you can only sell once per turn. So if you sell before combat, you can't sell afterwards as well.

Re: Endgame strategy
I have never heard of being able to sell only once on your turn. I can't see why that is necessary either. I have only read that you can sell ONLY during your own turn while not in combat.

Re: Endgame strategy
Yeah, there's nothing in the rules saying you can only sell items once per turn. You can't do it during combat, you have to sell at least 1000 GP, and you can't get Level 10. Those are the only restrictions.

Re: Endgame strategy
My favorite endgame strategy is to hang on to a GUAL card when I'm at Level 8.
I get in a fight, because people aren't as worried about me gaining a level. Wait until everyone's done playing cards, just before you officially win the fight. Then play your GUAL. You're now Level 9, and this is for the win. Of course, now everyone else has a chance to play more cards, but they may not be in a position to do so now, having used cards elsewhere. Even better when you manage to get some help. Best of all when you're an Elf and you offer help.

Re: Endgame strategy
I'm not sure where you picked this up, but it's not the case. You can sell multiple times during your turn if you want to. The only thing that you may only do once per turn with respect to selling is, as a Halfling, sell an Item for double.

Probably the way that I was taught based on a house rule by that GM. To be honest, that's one rule I never had any reason to look up. Interesting...
