For interested parties, I added back the ability to use a pick-list by using the #BuildLibraryItemList directive instead of relying on a Group of all skills.
I used #BuildLibraryItemList to build a list of all skills that have a name, like this: Code:
#BuildLibraryItemList( Skills where name isnot "", template(%listitem%) ) This directive is one of the new features in GCA5, so this method will NOT work in GCA4.

And to reiterate: DFRPG doesn't use techniques, and doesn't use raising skills from default, because those add complexity to the system, and do confuse many people.
Do what you like in your game, but please bear that in mind.
