If you are a gnome and you use the illusion ability to give you a bonus, does the illusion count as a monster? If yes, can you use a wandering monster and another monster from your hand to increase your bonus?
This happen in a game and the player said, "If I cast an illusion of a monster to give me a bonus, then the monster I'm fighting thinks it is a monster and a wandering monster would do the same." Thanks for you help! |

Any monster that is wandered in would attack the gnome and its illusion.

Pretty sure you're not allowed to do anything to increase the bonus of your Illusion. The point is you play ONE monster from your hand and add its level to your combat strength, assuming you're alone in the combat. If you were allowed to modify it, it would say so. (I think it originally DID say so, but they took it out, correct me if I'm wrong)
Even if it does count as a monster, the play you described is not something Wandering Monster can be used for anyway.

I thought you could use +5 and +10 to Level of Monster cards to increase the level of your illusions?

In the spirit of the thread title, a Gnome with Avatar and a Level 20 monster in their hand is pretty awesome. Allows them to get themselves up to at least a combat strength of 63 (if they are level 1) for one battle with no risk of being caught even if they lose. The illusion is an ILLUSION, not a monster. Monsters never fight on the player side. Even when monsters are used to help a player, they always give a named bonus type that isn't monster, like Steed or Illusion.
