Re: Terrifying GM Statements
Uh? So you really don't get a roll to resist cyanide poisoning...

Re: Terrifying GM Statements
Even there are quite a few plants and even some animals with unusual resistance to it. Most notably, to me, milipedes which emit hydrogen cyanide as a defense.
Cyanide will otherwise kill anything with "generic" mitochondria.

Re: Terrifying GM Statements
"Make a perception check", when your characters are just walking around in a safe place would always scare me. Even worse is after peering at thier notes, they say, "Okay, nobody notices anything amiss."

Re: Terrifying GM Statements
GM: "Alright, anyone have First Aid?"
Players: "Ya, best 1 point ever!", "Obviously, after last time we all got it." GM: "Did anyone actually buy first aid supplies..." Players: "Oh... right" GM: "Roll First Aid at -5" Also a good one: "So, who's holding the torch?"

I didn't know you could even get that result on this table. But there it is in black and white.

Re: Terrifying GM Statements
Players can decide anything is scary. Completely trivial background detail can spin into the most insane theories. Worse case I can recall, an off the cuff answer to what is (guy we're suspicious of for some reason) doing? - he's staring out the window watching birds build a nest in the tree behind the inn - sent the players off looking for druidic plots and checking for the presence of birds before they did anything for the rest of the adventure.
