Default discarding items

I'm sure this has been asked before. If there is a way to search prior posts please let me know.

I know I cannot discard items 'for no reason'. What about when I have more than 5 cards in my hand and I am not a dwarf?

Example: yuppie water card. Low bold pieces, low bonus, only helps elves.

Thanks!

At the end of your turn, you may only have five cards in your hand (or six, if you are a Dwarf). The number of cards in your hand does not matter EXCEPT at the end of your turn.

If you are not the lowest-Level player, then you must give the excess cards to the lowest-Level player(s), splitting them as evenly as possible if more than one players are lowest.

If you ARE the lowest-Level player (or tied for lowest), then you do just discard the extra cards you don't want, if you don't have another way to play or use them. That's not discarding "for no reason," it's following the rules for the Charity page at the end of your turn.

I hope that helps! Let me know if it's not clear yet and I'll try again.
