I feel like having your bow smashed to pieces is a high enough price to be able to defend with a bow. Regarding earlier post, I'm seeing that a lot of the weapon skills mention a bonus to defend already, so I would not require skill to Defend with weapons or shield. I guess the DX penalty of unskilled Shield use is enough to make Shield I valuable and worthwile. Last edited by platimus; 10-06-2018 at 10:24 PM. |

Re: A dagger can defend, but a shield cannot
if you can defend without any specific skill with a torch or a club or a dagger, why this can't be done with a crossbow or a bow (ruining it)?

I think Skarg agrees with you. His comment that you quoted was in reference to my earlier position of requiring skill with weapons and shields to defend with them. I admitted that position was wrong in the post just before yours. I now agree with both of you.

I am pretty sure there's no bow so expensive that I wouldn't try to put it in the way of a sharp piece of metal aimed at my squishy bits.

Yeah that was what I was hinting at. :-)

I agree. My point was that the bow is destroyed if you defend with it. You will be without a bow until you find another one or get back to "town" and buy a new one.
