Munchkin Zombies - clarification on discarding powers?

The rule specifically says "you can discard powers at any time and replace them with a power from your hand." Does this mean you MUST replace the power with a card from your hand in order to discard the original power?

Or can I, say, choose to stop being Stealthy mid-combat since the monster is +4 against stealthy, even though I have no power in my hand to replace stealthy with?

I think this would mean you cant ever choose to get rid of a power unless you can replace it?

You can discard a Power at any time. You are not required to replace it.
