Default Armed Parry vs Unarmed damage

I've searched the forum but surprisingly there's no answer.

When parrying an unarmed attack with a weapon, you can damage the attacker. According to B376, you roll damage normally, but what damage? Can you roll swing damage? Do you use your ST or the attacker's ST for the damage (or maybe the highest of two)? What if your weapon has several modes but one is clearly not meant for Parry (like many polearms)?

I think the basic intent is that you just roll whatever's on the table, for your ST. A Parry with a spear does thr imp, while one with a pick does sw imp (and gets stuck). When using a weapon with multiple entries, you get to choose.

Personally, I think that's ridiculous. The damage from an Armed Parry should be based on thr. It should also generally require you to use something like Aggressive Parry, for actually striking the limb attacking you. Hafted weapons, like spears, polearms and axes, should typically deal cr, although axes and the like would have the option of dealing cut. Long edged weapons, like swords, would be able to cause damage (cut, in this case) passively, albeit at a reduced value, as would Annihilating weapons (force swords, nanothorn weapons, etc).

I'd be tempted to use the attacker damage roll, and say the injury type is either Cutting if you are parrying with a bladed weapon or Crushing otherwise.

Think about the logistics of parrying with the point* of a pick or a spear when you actually got the haft to parry with. (I'd imagine the current rules are really designed to be easy to apply in what is a bit of a fringe situation).

*if someone wanted to try it and gain the Imp injury mod I'd let them but with a penalty to parry.
