Obscure (Emotions)
What would be the consecuences both positive and negative for a PC with Obscure Emotions plus Any Sense (mundane, magical and chi) and "Can't be switched off"? What would be the cost?
The context is a fantasy world where there are spell magic, gods, chi powers but not PSI powers. Also, I wonder if it deserves a -1 to any influence roll for each level of obscure. Thanks!

Re: Obscure (Emotions)
So your talking about hiding your emotions from others sensing them with magic or skills?
Mind Shield with a limitation for emotions only should work. As for preventing Influence rolls go with Indomitable or Resistance if you dont want full Immunity.

Re: Obscure (Emotions)
Good point! But it is not only "Mind shield" because there are mundane ways to detect emotions such as "Psychology", "Detect Lies", "Interrogation" or the sense of smell of a dog and other animals which can sense fear.
I want also to protect the PC from attacks or effects that read, modify or generate emotions, or effects that are triggered from the emotions. For example in "Neverending Story" the Swamp of Sadness would engulf you if you are overcome by sadness. Some creatures feed on emotions (Psychic Vampires) or can only detect you by "seeing" your emotions. Most of it can be achieved by "Mind Shield" but the mundane part and the detection part can't. Anyway thanks for the reply!

Re: Obscure (Emotions)
Obscure wont protect you from attempts to change your emotions.
I would combine Obscure and Resistance.

Re: Obscure (Emotions)
Special attention may need to be given to Empathy as not everyone considers it a psychic power. So player and GM should determine whether mundane obscure would cover it or not.

Re: Obscure (Emotions)
Thanks for the answers!
@NineDaysDead . The posted thread was very interesting to me. In fact I had completely forgotten I even participated in it! @Ghostdancer . As always, there is an article of you covering an obscure Gurps topic! (pun intended) I have a related question regarding "Emotion" as a Sense. If Emotion is a sense.... would Obscure Emotion also cover your smell? I mean, it is known that predators can smell fear. The same can be asked about "reading the color of the aura" psi/magic power. For example Obscure Vision doesn't cover "Hypervision" or "Infravision". Would it be the same thing in Obscure Emotion not covering "Smell-Emotion" or "Hyper-Emotion"? Or maybe am I exaggerating things?
