For both the new GM and the new player. New GMs often don't have the skills yet to clearly communicate the situation, or even to clearly visualize it for themselves.

And you can have a brilliant communicator, but if you have a player with some spatial problems they're going to be confused. The kind of person who always gets lost driving (me) can't get by with verbal description of a space.

It's a surprise. It isn't a pleasant one, however. Even though I use mapped combat myself, it's easier to allow for mapless combat and add the grid than to assume a map and take it away.

I find that if precise rather than distances and relationships are specified it is easier to visualize the map in one's head then it is to try to apply vague relationships ("behind the enemy") to a map, YMMV.

Hard to manage limited situational awareness without something like a computer aid.

Let's leave the political discussion out of this thread, please.

He's a mod, he doesn't need your permission to edit posts. I've PMed you the removed section so you have a frame of reference, but let's stay on the topic here of Dungeon Fantasy and not finances.

I conclude that if over ten other forums I'm on don't edit or object to what I say, there's something about the SJ Games forums. Trying to analyse what would probably be edited.

I've been encouraged directly by SJ Games staff to post more, spread some of my ideas on social media and try to spread the word of GURPS. But the way I'm repeatedly treated on the forums encourages me to stay quiet and do my own thing elsewhere with no mention of SJ Games. Make you minds up chaps.
We appreciate the word of GURPS. Please, by all means, spread it. This isn't a thread about politics, or financial systems. Spread that elsewhere on another forum.

We appreciate the fandom and what people do to proselytize the game, but we also have forum rules, and that post directly broke one of them, so we removed the material. That's it.

This will also be the last post in the thread concerning it. We're going back to Dungeon Fantasy talk, 998 backers, and (hopefully) funding in the very near future.
