So basically one of the Scandinavian countries.

I don't see them as densely populated. They're cold in the South, too. They have behaved for a long time. And while there may be some superficial prejudices there, I wouldn't rate them at -2.

My guess: Japan.

I just checked. The 2 countries just below 150,000 square miles is Japan and Norway. Yeah, it's probably Japan.

I find it very implausible that an entire country that size could have Appearance (Beautiful) in a realistic setting .

Now I am confused. Per the preview "Realm Size Value: Number used to determine the realm’s population, area, etc."

By area at 145,937 mi^2 Japan would be a +17 not a +16 as you go to the next higher number with the size calculations.

Well to be fair there are either errors in the examples or the math to get there isn't clear.

Strictly by their land areas two are in the wrong places and a third doens't make sense

France at 248,573 mi² should be +18 not +17
Singapore (281.2 mi²) should be +9 not +8
Vatican City (109 acres; 0.170313 mi²) should be 0 not -1 (yes that is negative one)

Denmark (16,577 mi²) is in a weird place as the Kingdom of Denmark/ Danish Realm counts Greenland which kicks it up to 2,220,072 mi² or +19

Greenland has internal self-rule so it's not part of another realm (thus it doesn't boost Denmark's size). But it has no foreign policy or defense, so it's not an independent realm either.
But it's covered anyway: choose one of the options among the non-independent realms. Personally, it seems that "protectorate" might be a good approximation.

I don't think internal self-rule doesn't mean you can't be part of another realm. For example, to a large extent (due to distances) colonies were more or less left to their own devices.

Similarly, states within the US have their own self-rule. It was so strong that it wasn't until the end of the Civil War that you could use "is" rather than "are" for the United States. A point that comes up for Steampunk Earth in the Five Earths setting. The closest equivalent today to the pre Civil War US would be the EU.

Native American reservations in the United States are in a similar situation. They are their own self-ruling realms that are still answerable to the Federal government.

If you really want to see how "fun" figuring out what is part of a Realm can be or of Realms within Realms watch American Empire
