Re: question about infinite worlds
There could be an entire naming series of Byzantine-dominated worlds.

If you'd like a well-worked example, you could use this:

Re: question about infinite worlds
Byzantium *is* the ancient Roman empire, it's just had some bad years. Could it recover that territory? Maybe, depends on when you put the divergence (it becomes a lot harder after the rise of Islam, the *real* prizes are Egypt and Anatolia, western Europe is kind of minor) and what happens to the competition. The British Empire, well probably not unless it recovers Iberia first - for lack of easy access to the open sea.

Re: question about infinite worlds
It's not a gaming setting, but Harry Turtledove's early collection Agent of Byzantium is founded on that premise. Turtledove starts his divergence with Islam not being founded; instead the Byzantine calendar includes a holy day for St. Mouamet. Turtledove actually took his Ph.D. in Byzantine history, so it's well researched, and he's a decent writer, especially in shorter forms—some of his multibook series drag on a bit.

Re: question about infinite worlds
I don't think anyone is suggesting that the British are the obstacle to a global Byzantine empire.

Re: question about infinite worlds
How would the different factions view a world where a global Byzantine empire is the dominant world power.
