The issue is so pronounced, that some parts of the Parks Highway (in Alaska) have been fitted with the same kind of cooler as is used on the pipeline.

The type is the same as in this article: https://www.arcticfoundations.com/in...-cold-climates

An amateur archaeologist discovered a piece (80 metres) of the Berlin Wall.

Seems like it was somehow "overlooked" when the rest of the wall was broken down in the early nineties.

https://pankowerchronikdotde.wordpress.com/

(Sorry, German Language only.)

So, what's behind it?

- Geomagic / Feng Shui to channel Berlins Mystical Powers?

- The graffiti on it contain some secret message, maybe the key to missing billions of the GDR ruling socialist party? (No, really, they existed and vanished after the reunification).

- Is it a fake, payed with the still missing giant gold coin?

Other thoughts?

Do they gain anything by using base-60 that isn't gained by using radians or purely algebraic expressions, and that wasn't already known about?
Late to the party and just saw this.

The point of the Babylonian base 60 was that they could do more precise geometric calculations earlier in history than other cultures, without developing algebra and so on.

The precision aspect is still relevant. Many calculations resolve perfectly in base 60 that never do in base 10.

Neither of those claims are in dispute. The claim that this current discovery of Babylonian base-60 may have profound implications for modern mathematics is what was under contention.

When I dug into the claim last time, it all seemed to come back to one academic who was trying to push his own hobby horse, so he was probably overstating the finding's significance a little.

The communists are just a scapegoat to divert attention. We've discovered that Cuba is the other end of the Taos Hum. Obviously there's a secret US government lab in New Mexico that we've been using to mind control the Cubans with our subterranean ELF beams. Most of the power is focused on Cuba, but there is, as always, a little local leakage.

Of course, the problem with subterranean ELF beams is they're liable to arouse trouble from Terrestrial Residents Occupying Lower Levels, or TROLLs...

An army of penguins in the "Danger Islands".

Supervillain plot, or banestormed from the Technomancer timeline?

After noticing the telltale signs of guano streaks on satellite imagery, an international team of researchers set out to count the number of penguins on Antarctica’s aptly named Danger Islands. They found a previously undetected supercolony of over 1.5 million Adélie penguins—a surprising result, given how poorly these aquatic birds are doing just 100 miles away.

Japanese man wins custody of 13 kids born to Thai surrogates

Other reports state that he's hoping to have a hundred children.

So... this seems so much like a cyberpunk/super villain opening gambit, but what's the end-game?

So there are really people out there who play unicycle hockey. They even have an international federation, leagues and championships.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unicycle_hockey

It the rules become less kid-friendly, it could be the perfect blood sport for your cyberpunk dystopia. Or a bizarre trial-by-combat on a distant colony planet. Or simply a way of the villain (TM) to ridicule the heroes.

What a time to be alive.
