Re: Sooo . . .What do you want?
Count me as another old fart who had both the ST and SW blueprints/artworks books when they came out. One dream was to use the AMT (later Ertl) kit for the NCC-1701 and build every variant/name of tug, scout, destroyer, heavy cruiser ... I actually built a few of the destroyers.
To flop this back to Ogre, I'd think of buying dedicated Ogre artwork, as I do have the ODE era blue poster up in my workshop -- but buying such stuff would be a very low priority on my list. I'd prefer to see the manpower of SJG devoted to actual game related materials. |

Re: Sooo . . .What do you want?
As Drew said earlier, the 24"x24" mat size is a firm limit - presumably for now; I've seen larger, but they get VERY pricey. With 2" hexes, that drastically limits the area the map can cover.

But the new mapboard doesn't offer any increase in area either. Or am I missing something?

Re: Sooo . . .What do you want?
I'm not sure either - but I'm aiming to get at least one as I see it as potentially a useful spare map for demo/participation games. And especially if it gets to introduce GEV rules. Treating it as a stand-alone accessory it could prove useful.

I think he's saying that a 24" x 24" map with 2" hexes cannot represent as much territory as a 24" x 24" map with 1 3/8" hexes.

Re: Sooo . . .What do you want?
That's kind of what I'm drifting toward for minis. I haven't had time to take up the project, but I found a cotton print with a hex grid. Some tie dye and some fabric paint and I'll have boards with big hexes. Machine-washable, to get any bad luck off of them.
Also, they make GiTD fabric paint. |
