Optional 3rd ed. rule on excessive pluses to dice
For the game I’m running, I want to know the 3rd ed. optional rule for excessive pluses added to Dice.
Is 1d+3 equal to 2d and 1d+5 equal to 3d -or- Is it 1d+4 equal to 2d and 1d+7 equal to 3d. ??? |

Is this a RAW in 4th edition as well, and if so, where is it written?

Re: Optional 3rd ed. rule on excessive pluses to dice
Somebody with the Basic Set 3rd ed. please QUOTE the rule on excessive pluses to die rolls here so I can see it, please.
Is +3 = 1d -OR- +4 = 1d Is +7 = 2d ??? Please quote the entire rule in Basic Set 3rd ed. p. 269 Optional Rule Box here. Thanks, Paolo PBarone714@gmail.com |

Re: Optional 3rd ed. rule on excessive pluses to dice
From the Basic Set 3e, page 114
"the GM may rule that any +7 be turned into two dice, or any +4 be turned into one die. Thus, an attack of 2d+5 would be equivalent to a 3d+1." I believe this is what you wanted. Edit: As an aside there is no page 269 in the 3e Basic set, mine only goes up to page 256. It is on page 269 in the 4e Basic book and the text is identical. Re: Optional 3rd ed. rule on excessive pluses to dice
Double optionally, and something I use personally (and not in the rulebook):
+3 = +1d-1 +4 = +1d +5 = +1d+1 +6 = +2d-1 +7 = +2d
