Re: OGRE Loot! Show Us Yours!
Sculptor of the Martian Metals Mark V was the late Forest Brown, who owned the company. It had the right feel, but it was not crisp and it used a LOT of metal, so we had Ab Mobasher resculpt it when we started doing our own.
I have, on my office shelf, a painted MM Mk. V that Forest gave me, and another painted Ogre of later manufacture. I will photograph those once the new year is underway and I'm back in the office. Remind me if I forget! See http://www.sjgames.com/ogre/miniatures/checklist.html - and if your recent acquisitions add any info for that page, such as who some of the other sculptors were, please tell me! |

That checklist page has been a huge help in my recent collecting efforts. I'd like to see it expand to cover the rest of the 2000 line and the latest plastics.

Re: OGRE Loot! Show Us Yours!
More loot for New Year's Eve, as my copy of Deluxe Ogre showed up yesterday. I also got word that my mystery Ogre is in Chicago and should be delivered Tuesday...

Re: OGRE Loot! Show Us Yours!
The Martian Metals Mk V has arrived, and wow, SJ wasn't kidding when he said it used a lot of metal. That thing is huge and heavy. I do have to disagree with the collector's checklist: this "miniature" is slightly larger than the current plastic Mk V.

Re: OGRE Loot! Show Us Yours!
I've posted some more pics of the MM Mk V. Ashley sent me some photos that were an ENORMOUS help, so now I'm just working out how to repair the secondary batteries.

Re: OGRE Loot! Show Us Yours!
That's interesting to see up close and cleaned up. If I may, in a facetious manner: the plastic Mk. V mini is the "actual person", the MM mini is the Simpson's version of the same person.

Re: OGRE Loot! Show Us Yours!
Yeah. The current sculpt of the Mark V - which dates, in large part, to Ab Mobasher's efforts way back in 1982 - looks like a giant tank with ball turrets. The MM Mark V looks like it has GREAT BIG GOOGLY EYES. It's part of why I pushed the tracks out, and why I'm going to be really careful with my paint job.

Re: OGRE Loot! Show Us Yours!
Or maybe your Ogre is a Simpsons fan and asks for a googly-eye paint job.
