Default [RPM] RPM and Afflictions

Hi guys

Let's say I am an RPM Mage and want to make an affliction that puts all the enemies around me to sleep, should they fail their HT roll.

Which is the correct way to do it:

A)

Lesser Strenghten Body - 3 Energy

Affliction (Sleep +150%; Area 2y +50%; Emanation, -20%; Selective Area +20%) - 30+10+4+4=48 Energy

B)

Lesser Strenghten Body - 3 Energy

Affliction (Sleep +150%; Emanation, -20%) - 34 Energy
Area 2y, Exclude 7 Hex - 2+4=6 Energy
Duration 10m - 1 Energy

C)

Lesser Strenghten Body - 3 Energy

Affliction (Sleep +150%; Area 2y +50%; Emanation, -20%; Selective Area +20%) - 30+10+4+4=48 Energy
Area 2y, Exclude 7 Hex - 2+4=6 Energy
Duration 10m - 1 Energy

Or in other words: When using Afflictions, do I add modifiers I could give using just the Affliction, just the PM rules or a combination of both?

Cheers

This one is closest but what you would do should be more like this:

Greater Control Mind + Affliction, Sleep (30) + Area of Effect, 2 yards, 7 excluded hexes (6) + Duration, 10 minutes (1). 114 energy (38x3).

Thanks!

I used Strengthen Body because I thought of it as a buff for the pc who gets this ability, is that a crooked way to look at it?

And the Lesser part is due to the Sword and Sorcery feel I'd like to accomplish, so this I think I won't change.

Cheers

You could do it that way. But that's altered traits. I may have misread. Apologies if I did. I thought you were talking about the caster casting this spell.

Nah, that's not it... it's just that I am too stupid to get it right.

If the caster wants to give this sleep area affliction to himself, he uses an affliction with Path of Mind.

If the caster wants to give this sleep area to a friend, he uses altered trait? This time with Path of Body?$

Wut?

Not stupid! :-)

If you're giving traits to people it would be a Greater Transform Body effect for exotic traits me thinks. That's how I do it in my games.

Ghostdancer, I'm sure this has been covered time and again, but if you alter someone's traits, and it gives them an ability, but the ability doesn't show on them, so nothing appears to have happened - why not Lesser? Or is it that the affliction you're giving them the ability to use has flashy special effects, and thus Greater?

And that makes a lot of sense, thank you very much!

RPM goes into more detail on this. I can't actually tell you what, but it does. Sorry. :-/

In my own games I treat it as anything that a PC couldn't buy normally (e.g., you need special GM permission). So if I could buy DR 5 in the campaign it would be a Lesser effect, DR 6 or better would require a Greater one though.
