Run Away GUAL
Player is Running Away from two Monsters. Player Runs Away from Monster 1. Player then decides to play a GUAL from his hand prior to Running Away from Monster 2. Is the playing of the GUAL permitted? I believe that the player should have to resolve all Run Away attempts once the Player has begun his Run Away attempt. Thanks.

Re: Run Away GUAL
I think we've always allowed card playing between attempts, as long as it's not an Item or something that you couldn't play during combat and/or Running Away (as would be stated on the card or in the rules).

Re: Run Away GUAL
If we have, I'm overruling it. Once you start to Run Away, you must resolve all attempts before proceeding to do anything not related to those attempts.

Re: Run Away GUAL
Once you decide to Run Away, someone could still play a Wandering Monster, so now you have to escape from both?
If so, can I go back in my decision on Running? As I play, once you say what you are going to do is already done for all purposes, you can't go back in decisions. |

Re: Run Away GUAL
No, a Wandering Monster could only be played during combat, and Running Away isn't combat. However, Andrew's post kinda put the kibosh on the concept of playing cards while you're trying to Run Away. However, there needs to be a clarification on whether someone could still play Curses.

Re: Run Away GUAL
I thought GUALs and Curses could be played at anytime. If I decide to run away, am I not allowed to curse myself so a Monster may not pursue me? Or do I technically have to curse myself and then choose to run? I can't think of an example where that would be an important distinction, but I'm sure someone can.

Re: Run Away GUAL
Wow! It seemed to me that the question of continuity of Run Away is long settled. Run Away - is a process and it does not matter how many die rolls will be committed, and the process is inseparable and player is not affected by cards and abilities (except those that are clearly meant to be played during the Run Away) during it.

Re: Run Away GUAL
What about playing a curse to avoid pursuit from a monster. Example: If a monster has bad stuff of death and says will not pursue anyone level 5 an below, you are a level 5 and cannot beat it even with help. Can you curse yourself to lose a level, go to level 4, and the monster will not pursue you and you get away free?

Re: Run Away GUAL
I already pointed out these exact concerns, so let's give Andrew a chance to get back to this rather than piling on.
