DR of Medieval armor at later Tech Levels?
HI all,
Still a 3rd Ed GURPS gamer here... My question this time is as follows: has anyone ever done any work, officially or not, on what the DR would be of Medieval-style armor made at later TLs? The best I can do right now is the writeup given for a suit of classic full plate in High Tech, but I was wondering what a suit of chain and plate, or even just a breastplate, might look like. Thanks for any help. |

See the box 'High-Tech Low-Tech' on p. 65 of GURPS High-Tech for 4th Edition.

Just note that modern (TL6+) metalworking techniques could result in anything up to DRx2. If you're working at less than that, reduce it appropriately.

Re: DR of Medieval armor at later Tech Levels?
Quote:
TL 4: +1DR chainmail, -20% weight TL 4: can get +2 DR for 1.25 weight or +4DR for 1.5 weight TL 7: +3DR for chain and plate TL 8: +12 DR chain and plate TL 8: alternate: +8 DR plate only and half weight TL 9: +24DR plate only and half weight. Several books(compendium II, WW II and so on) also list TL 5 and TL 6 breastplate statistics as individual pieces, but no rules as such. (The rules are quite bad because of the flat bonus regardless of original DR and further things like the example heavy plate in Compendium II is DR 40 and half weight on torso while , while according to the official rule it would have been 7+3=10 and normal weight) |
