RPM: Enchanted Item Cost
According to RPM, any enchanted item is purchased as an advantage.
“(p. 33) An enchanted item is bought as an advantage or set of related advantages. Each advantage should take one enchantment limitation (below). Bound spell items (only) also add the limitation Magical (-10%), which reflects the fact that they don’t work in desecrated areas, are subject to counterspells, and count as a charm toward the owner’s maximum conditional spells.” I was just wondering how one would calculate the cost of that advantage? Maybe I’m missing something. Any help would help. |

Re: RPM: Enchanted Item Cost
You calculate the cost of the advantage by, well, building it. Vest enchanted with 5 DR? It's built is Damage Resistance 5 [Insert all modifiers here].

Re: RPM: Enchanted Item Cost
So, in this case, the Energy Cost of the Conditional Ritual = the cost in Character Points of the Advantage?

Re: RPM: Enchanted Item Cost
No, you buy the advantage using the costs in GURPS Characters.
Let's say you want an unprotected ring that gives you Danger Sense. According to p. B47, Danger Sense is a 15-point advantage. An unprotected ring is a -35% limitation. So you're buying Danger Sense (Ring, -35%) which costs 10 points. That's what you pay.

Re: RPM: Enchanted Item Cost
So, you can't assign any Conditional Rituals, or any other rituals, to an Enchanted Item?
The reason I'm asking is because I was trying to recreate items like the "shield bracelet" from the Dresden Files. If I can't do Rituals from RPM, then perhaps I should just stick some Advantages from Basic: Characters Last edited by Coinage; 01-21-2018 at 04:49 PM. Reason: Wanted to clarify reasoning. |
