Pets vs Steeds

I just came across the epic human ability of creating a pet. To be clear, can I have both a pet and a steed? Is a pet something unique to epic humans, or are they part of an expansion/booster I've not gotten to yet?

Pets are unique to Epic Humans. They don't count towards your Steed limit or any other limit, except that you may only have one pet.
