Re: Character help? Experiment gone wrong? (Human Bard)
Maybe. I have no idea how that process works. I do know that the secrecy level was set to "maximum" before the release in this case to protect the privileges Kickstarter backers had paid for.

I believe that DFRPG was simply handled the same way all GURPS releases have been, where PDFs are sent to Eric as comps during that phase of the project. It appears nobody in the office considers the possibility of a data release for GCA to be worth the effort of sending any files out-of-turn. I don't know about Eric, but had I received PDFs, or even text, last year, this would be a non-issue. I had time to do data files during several periods last year. Now, after moving house and having a computer meltdown, I've been busy catching up with work and haven't had time for data, even though I want to use GCA for DFRPG myself. ETA: Whoops, didn't mean 'last year' literally, meant last year as 'in the previous 12 months'.

Re: Character help? Experiment gone wrong? (Human Bard)
Not trying to have the GCA files ready for such a marque release does appear to be a significant marketing oversight.

I like GCA as much as anybody. But one of the wonderful things about DFRPG is that I can write up a character sheet quickly on my phone using Google Drive if I want to. We don't *need* GCA to keep stuff straight.

I was not the math Nerd in school. History, English, and Art were my favorite subjects - that is probably why I like world building so much. Before the GCA existed I had to always double check myself with a calculator when making GURPS characters. The GCA just makes getting ready for a game session much, much easier and much more stress free. - Ed C.

Re: Character help? Experiment gone wrong? (Human Bard)
Please note that before we get too far into accusations of dropped balls:
The Dungeon Fantasy Roleplaying Game is not a GURPS product. Thus as cool as it would be for GURPS geeks to have data files for it, something titled GURPS Character Assistant isn't going to be part of our Dungeon Fantasy Roleplaying Game marketing . . . not with "GURPS" right there in the title. And our budget did not permit us to look into a new, slightly modified software product with different branding, as cool as that might have been. Consequently, discussion of GCA is off-topic for Dungeon Fantasy Roleplaying Game forum as of now. If there's a Dungeon Fantasy Roleplaying Game Character Assistant at some future date, then that will certainly be on-topic. Thanks!

My apologies, I did not intend to offend. Sometimes things come across harsher than one intends in a print conversation.

There are lots of great ways to make a character for DF RPG. I would like to draw your attention to this thread which has a few interesting ways to do it.

But I was trying to make characters for "Dungeon Fantasy" - which is powered by GURPS. That is a confusing gray area you have to admit. I would never consciously break a rule that way - I'm a very honorable Klingon (For the most part) - Ed C.
