Maximal Effect Temperature Control
Hi guys!
I'm reading the forums for a while and finally registered. So... Hi guys! :) Looking around for a while i haven't found a proper information about the maximal heating possible with Temperature Control. (As PK power) It says (B92):"You can alter the ambient temperature. Heating or cooling is limited to 20° per level... at 2°per level per second of concentration." The question is if it "stacks up" i.e. in a small room where ambient temperature increases when warming up constantly. The issue is that we want to power a truck in a Fallout-Universe with a) a wood gasifier otto-engine and optionally b) a electric motor powered by a steam turbine with water heated around the burning chamber The clou is using our relatively weak Psionic to heat up the burning chamber powering the steam turbine without any fuel. I am German speaking so maybe it is just my translation problem? thx Fabo |

Re: Maximal Effect Temperature Control
Maximum heat change is given by your level.... if you have temperature control at 10 you can raise the temperature up to 200 degrees above normal, and that's your limit.
so the maximum effect is limited by your level. If an external heat source is used, figure out what that would be, then add the difference to that.

Re: Maximal Effect Temperature Control
Thats how i would see it in an open area.
But heating up a 1 x 1 x 1 yard chamber from 20° to 40° over 10 seconds and then ending concentration would change the temerature in this room to 40° because its a closed room having 40° or 39°. So the heat is saved in the room. Does it "remember" it was generated unnaturally? Wouldn't a new use of Temperature Control increase it further? Is there a exact rule for that case or is it a GM decision? |

Re: Maximal Effect Temperature Control
It does not matter if it i a sealed room or not.
It is a Super Power, and like Magic those are not required to obey Physics. Even with Physics you would reach diminishing returns with a steady energy output like that.

Re: Maximal Effect Temperature Control
The exact rule is that you can increase the temperature up to _foo over the pre-existing temperature.
It is the GM's decision as to whether you can stop using Temperature Control and have the new higher temperature (post-Temperature Control) become the new pre-existing temperature that you can further increase. The rules don't speak one way or the other on this. If you were my player, I'd rule "No" and suggest that if you want to increase the temperature even further that you purchase additional levels of Temperature Control. |
