Default Newbie question after first game

Hey all,

So I have just discovered the world of Munchkin and I can already tell I'm going to be addicted. I am starting with Munchkin Legends. I played my first game last night and just had a question.

NOTE: I played last night with two players and a variant rule. I realize that Munchkin is suggested as a three player game which I think might solve the issue I had.

So, basically, we found that it was "too easy" to kill all the monsters with our levels and the items we were carrying. (We each frequently had multiple items in play (headgear, footgear, both hands, armor), often taking us to 20 or so combat strength before help or any other cards were used, making most kills easy-peasy.

With one time use cards in play, it sometimes got close, but we rarely had to run away. Does this kind of resolve itself in a game with three or more players? I envision everyone tossing multiple one item use cards on the table at once, really upping how hard it is to kill the monster.

OR did we miss something on how many items can be in play at once? (We did follow the rules on one of each type, only 1 big item, etc)

Thanks for any help/insight you can provide! :-)

Munchkin isn't meant to be consistently hard; that wouldn't be any fun. But yes, having more players means more people who potentially can screw with you on any given turn, so games with more players tend to be a little more back-stabby.

Also if you want to make the game a little more difficult, Munchkin Game Changers has several out of print boosters that add challenge to the game

They probably aren't good for people who just played their very first game, however. Unsolicited product recommendations are more appropriate for the regular Munchkin forum; let's leave this one for answers to specific questions, please.
