Default Parrying Tooth and Claw Attacks Redux

I am running a DF game. I like wild animals and monsters that use tooth and/or claw attacks. My players like to use axes and swords to parry them and chop off arms and heads of the poor beasts. This is not the cinematic feel I am looking for. I have reviewed the history of possible fixes, including the half-swing damage house rule. I am not sure this is enough for my high damage players with weapon mastery and skill 18 plus. I am thinking of only allowing a successful parry of a claw or tooth attack to inflict any damage if the player succeeds with his parry by 5 or more. This will be automatic, i.e., no need to roll for the attack following the parry and will inflict one-half swing damage. Thus, a weapon skill of 20 will have a parry of 13 and will damage a tooth or claw attack on a parry roll of 8 or less. (All the fighters in the group will have 20 weapon skills pretty soon.) Any thoughts? Am I missing something?

I don't have Ma handy. Does that just prevent damage from a successful parry? I think I want to allow the players a chance of inflicting some damage.

Aggressive Parry is a technique, could look at that for ideas. Basically, IIRC, its a penalty to Parry, for a damaging parry.

If so, could be that a normal parry is simply a parry, and an aggro one is a damaging parry.

it turn the limb so it counts as a striker, and strikers like weapons don't get damages simply from parrying.

If you want some chance of damage make them do aggressive parries

What about DR limited to limbs, limited only against parry attacks (reflecting an ability to strike and get the limbs out of danger again) -80%, so each point of DR agains the parry damage is only 1 point each

Well I would say it does the damage a weapon would normally do on a parry if it wasn't a striker

It defaults to Parry-1, but there are special Modifers depending on what you are trying to parry
