Steam Ogre on an Apple M1 machine
Does anyone know if the Steam Ogre game runs on an Apple Silicon iMac (M1 version)?
The details listed on the site point to the older Intel boxes and do not mention APFS / Sonoma / Apple silicon etc... I do not play computer games (since around XP) so this is a whole new area for me! |

Re: Steam Ogre on an Apple M1 machine
I have seen enough complains about M1 compatibility with games that it does seem wise to ask. But I don't know enough about Macs to answer directly.
However, Steam does have a fairly lenient refund policy. Buy a game, play it for less than two hours, and request a refund within 14 days of the date of purchase, and they'll refund your money. So, the easy and quick way to find out might be simply to buy it and see if it works, and return it if it doesn't. Steam refund FAQs: https://help.steampowered.com/en/faq...BA65-ACCE-A411 |

Just fired it up. It does run, but it's pretty laggy, especially the mouse pointer. Clearly not optimised.

Re: Steam Ogre on an Apple M1 machine
Don;t have any exprience on Macs, but running Ogre under Wine on Linux x64 worked (almost) perfectly. I'm sure that there's going to be more of a penalty running on M1 chips because of the architecture differences, but that might work better than trying to play a native version (assuming there's one available).
