Because seasoned experts, he just hires (or conscripts). It's novices (beginning characters) who have to prove something if they want to join up. 40-point IQ 20 wizards are what's behind the walls running a Death Test, not taking it.

I don't know if you're pulling my leg or not.

Serious answer is sure they'd want his service but it just seems to me that an IQ 20 wizard with Word of Command Surrender would probably make an IQ to think to apply to the Thorsz' service in some way other than Death Test. And the Death Test administrators might tend to call for a parley with such an applicant as soon as they found out he was thinking to go through the test using it.

Or DT/DT2 is just a game and it would be fun to send a 40 pt wizard through it by himself. Or two 38 pt wizards. etc.

I wasn't being serious.

Obviously, DT is designed for a certain kind of party and an IQ 20 wizard with some backup isn't that kind of party.

But just as obviously, if you want to run it with a different kind of party, it's your game.

Yes. I just feel compelled to add a reasoned response to discussions of Henry's weird wizard assertions, because they tend to suggest something's broken, even if most of us rational veterans know better. (As seen in the recent thread by a new player wondering if TFT is a gonzo munchkin fandango, having read such things.)

I've not actually played Munchkin, but could you not give TFT stats for most/all of the stuff in it, and add combat between the munchkins, resolved with TFT?

I guess there could be at least two very different versions:

One where you let things work the way the munchkin hopes they'll work.

Another where the things work the way they ought to (that is, mostly not so well and/or unpredictably).

More, or less, off-topic than posting about munchkin TFT characters as if they were normal and something typical TFT players would actually include or want in their games?

How does Great Voice help with Command? (I am assuming Word of Command is the Mind Control spell Command...or is this something different?) Command lets you affect "a subject", not necessarily everyone who can hear it.
