How much should The Magic Ticket cost?
I'm working on an artifact for an upcoming In Nomine game. I think it's fair to pay points for it as an ability with the gadget limitation.
The Magic Ticket will allow its owner to enter the restroom of any travel hub (airport, bus station, train stop, etc.) and exit the restroom of any other hub served by the same service. For example, he could enter the restroom in Heathrow and emerge in LAX without passing through security or customs and without spending any money or time on the plane. It should allow everyone and everything within a single bathroom stall to travel with the owner. I'm thinking this would have to be a form of Warp. No roll required. But what kinds of limiters? Looking for some real guidance here. |

This seems to be a sort of Special Portal Limitation, but certainly a much larger limitation than "Mirrors" or "Shadows," and it removes all tactical utility for this advantage (unless you're fighting bad guys in an airport or trainstation) -- so I'd go all the way up to -80%. Don't forget to buy Extra Encumbrance (or possibly tunnelling if you can bring your friends along). Also the enhancement that allows you to make blind jumps. If no one else has given you the guidance you need in the meantime, I'll give you more tomorrow when I have my books handy.

Re: How much should The Magic Ticket cost?
Okay, my attempt with my books handy:
Warp (Movement* (Must walk through doorway) -10%, Special Portal* (Travel Hub Restrooms, must arrive at a "connected" hub) -60%, Blind +50%, Reliable +10 +50%, Extra Carrying Capacity (Heavy +30%), Cosmic (No Die Roll Required) +100%.) Gadget (Can Be Stolen (Stealth or Trickery) -10%, Unique -25%) [235 or 66 if using Multiplicative Modifiers] Personally, I think that Multiplicative Modifiers give a more fair price for this ability because it is so limited, but generally you're only supposed to use them if you're using them for everything. Note: Reliable +10 is necessary because you must have a modified skill of 3 to use it with No Die Roll required. This allows an IQ 10 person to make a Blind jump (-5 skill), 10,000 miles (-8 skill), with only 2 seconds of preparation (-4 skill). *From Jumper.

Gadget limitations too, including Can Be Stolen and Works for Thief (or whatever it's called)

I think so, since he will be traveling to places he's never been and can't see.

You halve the value of Can Be Stolen if it can't be used immediately, otherwise you just charge for it normally. You could change it to Can Be Stolen (Contest of ST or DX) if he needs to be holding the ticket in his hand when he enters the restroom.

Re: How much should The Magic Ticket cost?
So they are. My mistake; my eyes skipped right over them.
As a silly aside, you could use the Preparation Required (or Takes Time? IDHMBWM) if they need to actually go through the motions of using the restroom for it to work. This might be useful to help bring the cost down. |

Re: How much should The Magic Ticket cost?
Thanks for the help. Shouldn't it be blind only? I think it would be ok without the reliable since my character has an IQ of 23 and the average for an angel is 15.
