Might make a good web article.

(Yes, I went there.)

Scout with penetrating bodkin arrows knocks it down to a manageable DR5 at <$50 per shot. DR 2 with a penetrating bow, but that’s an extra $10k. ST19 bow with WM and fine arrows can major wound for HT-10 to knockdown/stun rolls

Also, Mass Daze is neat. You only need Area 1 to bypass the increased casting cost of regular spells against large targets. You still red to find a way to hurt it quickly, though.

I think either way you want someone with Flame Jet to clear out the spider webs to free up the combat area or PCs are going to keep getting stuck :)

Does DFRPG multiply armor divisors? Or does it go 1/2->1/3->1/5->1/10 like GURPS?

As for major wounds, Injury Reduction 3 and 110 base HP make that hard (you need 165 injury before reduction).

I'm also tempted to add "Eye hits don't do x4 (the brain is not right there) and you need to blind all 6 eyes to blind it." and "Brain cannot be targeted from below, even if skills tell you where it is. If you CAN target it, it is not given the SM to hit bonus, since it is very small compared to the spitan."

I'm not sure the rules on this are clear, and it seems to me that if an area spell intersects less than half of a figure it should not be fully affected.

What if it's something like Create Fire?

I side with those saying that Area spells must cover at least half of you to affect you. That's for spells that instantaneously blanket an area, affecting those who are in it right now (possibly with a duration) but not later arrivals – spells like Awaken, Dispel Magic, Mass Daze, Terror, and Turn Zombie. Spells that leave behind a persistent effect on an area and not a person (Create Fire, Darkness, Glue, Grease, Hail, Repel Spirits, Sandstorm, Stench, Tangle Growth, etc.) affect you if you walk through the area at all, although the GM should use common sense; e.g., if a multi-hex creature parks its butt or one foot in Darkness and Silence, it won't be blinded or silenced, because its head with its eyes and mouth aren't in the dark, quiet area.

I said "fully affected" for a reason, but basically I agree with Kromm here.

That said, I think for Create Fire I'd roll for every hex of the Spitan that was 12 feet or less (4 hexes) above the fire, which usually means just the feet, and maybe the head if it leans down to bite something. At DR 22 it might take a little while for it to care.

Get above it and cast Create Fire in the middle of its back. I'd argue that it is big enough that the same rules that apply to casting Area spells on a ship's deck apply.
