Some points of clarification on Brawling skill
I've got a few questions about Brawling.
What attacks benefit from the Brawling damage bonus? My current assumption is: all normal unarmed attacks, Strikers (plus Claws, Teeth, etc), and Natural Weapons, but not Innate Attacks with the Melee Attack limitation. Do power talents give a bonus to Brawling skill when using Innate Attacks with Melee Attack? |

Re: Some points of clarification on Brawling skill
The brawling bonus only applies to your thrust damage, so it only applies to innate attack if the innate attack is ST-based, and even then only to the thrust component of the damage. However, I believe it does apply in that case.

Does that mean it doesn't apply to Natural Weapons with Swing-Capable?

Not as written in Basic, though something else might have changed that (there aren't any Swing-based unarmed combat attacks in Basic).

"Roll against Brawling to hit with a punch, or Brawling-2 to hit with a kick. Brawling can also replace DX when you attack with teeth, claws, horns, or other "natural weapons."" Bold is basically strikers. Low Tech page 71. "[5] Attack receives damage bonuses for whichever of Boxing (p. B182), Brawling (p. B182), or Karate (p. B203) is used to deliver it – exactly as if it were an unarmed strike. Claws don’t improve damage with such weaponassisted blows." This is a note for the weapon Bladed hand, which does swing damage. I would say yes to that pyramid article falling under what I put in bold. After all if you are using that article then you are not using the normal "strikers" from basic. Either way it would be fine for me as a GM. They do, talent assists in any rolls needed for the abilities with the PM, that includes attack rolls to use. A few examples of this can be found in GURPS powers and psionic powers I think. |
