The wiki article sure does seem to have a slant. I don't recall FDR actually turning the US into a dictatorship, although a group of people would seem to argue that point. |

Re: New Reality Seeds
In some respects, yes, but it's also a very different Roman Empire. Turning Gaul into an agricultural powerhouse capable of feeding the Empire means that there's much less reason to treat Egypt with kid gloves - instead of, say, founding the cult of Serapis, the temples to the old Egyptian gods will have been forcibly closed probably in Nero's time, with priests and nobles who object winding up crucified. Demolishing the Pyramids and the Sphinx would be a tall order, but if necessary to destroy morale, it will have been undertaken. Judea may get similar treatment - the weirdness in the East is no longer something Rome absolutely has to tolerate. At the same time, it's set right about the time of the 2nd century crisis and plague - civic order is about to collapse, but with food and printed paper in the hands of ordinary citizens, is military rule necessarily the outcome this time around? If Gaul is an economic powerhouse and Britannia is (necessarily) its appendage, what happens when an intelligent, dynamic governor Gallia decides to tell the nitwits in Rome to stuff it, there's plague and riots and he'll hold Gallia together and send the capital his leftovers when the situation is calmer?

Maybe, but not yet. I assume it's like other Romes with magic except that improved ecconmics has lead to more of the Data that the Cabal wants being exposed. If the Cabal introduces the printing press and paper, it likely will become a super-Rome. But that's only a side issue to the Cabal.

Re: New Reality Seeds
Try this idea, have a major fictional character show up on an echo which isn't a mythic parallel.
My prefered way to do this would be to have Cabalists who've read the Tardis Eruditorum seek to capture the Doctor. They end up with pulling the first seven Doctors into London along with Cybermen, Daleks, and a few other nasties. Both Centrum and Homeline rush to clean up the mess, as do all of that Echo's millitary and intellegence forces and several different Cabal factions. I'd make the local year 1990.

Re: New Reality Seeds
Try this idea, Centruum is trying to shift a large number of parallels around to push Secondus (Homeline) into a lower Quantum {at least that's in the book}. Have one of their experiments go wrong and cause two or more parallels to merge. I'd pick more or less conventional tropes, a Sci fi world, a High Fantasy world, a Secret Magic/Conspiracy world, a Plup world, ect.
Yes this is Torg, and if you decide to simply push conventional Echos together, it becomes Trog for History majors. Either way, all the factions that become aware of the disaster will want to explore it. And the locals will be having "Adventures" too. Involuntary "Adventures" and Manditory Fun!

In 81 B.C. the dictator Sulla orders the execution of a certain Gaius Julius Caesar.

Re: New Reality Seeds
The "theory" that Clovis people were really Europeans that followed ice fishing to the east coast around 10k years ago is real. But in this alternate, they didn't die out leaving the land to Amerinds.
How would Columbus et.al. react to unknown white savages?
