Equipment for fantasy fighter craft
I'm starting a Spelljammer game (adapted to GURPS). The PCs have absconded with a Doombat in what is either an act of desertion by its commander or an act of piracy by a cashiered ex-officer. This is a vessel that launches and lands from a larger vessel, has a crew of five, and acts tactically as something between a fighter plane and a torpedo boat, or as a long-distance armed scout. The navy operates in a broadly similar fashion to that of Nelson, with a dash of Leary's and Harrington's.
What type of equipment is likely to be stored aboard and thus available to the PCs? On my list so far: Heavyweight clothes for the crew, in case of deployment somewhere colder than usual Personal fliers (Gadabouts) for the crew, in case it's necessary to abandon ship A week or so worth of food, for scouting missions Medical supplies (probably including some magical ones, not sure what/how many) Arrows Other spare weapons, maybe? Am I missing anything obvious? |

The helm, significantly. It's worth quite a bit if they choose to sell it.

That's a slightly longer-term consideration at the moment; they need to reach someone they can sell it to first, and there's hazards pn the way

Given the ridiculous expense of spelljammers several useful wondrous items might be included to save weight and space over conventional equipment and still be a tiny percentage of the cost of the craft.

Light sources, both magical and mundane: some covered lanterns with oil, and some everlasting flame rods, glow vials, or equivalent. Rope and chains, for tying things up, towing things, deploying boarding parties, or whatever. A couple hundred pounds in various diameters and lengths. A spyglass or other long distance viewing tool. Navigation tools in general, possibly with a clock or magical equivalent, and maps or guidebooks of the expected patrol area. A logbook and some tools for writing log entries.

Continuing with the elven theme your repair materials might actually include compost and fertilizer. Without magical sources you need to pack every pint of water and every pound of food your crew needs with the water actually being the bigger problem. <shrug> We used magic, including a Wastebasket of Disappearing for a chamber pot. We certainly hoped the Arcane searched through everything we threw away.

One of each per crew member would be a trivial expense compared to the cost of the vessel. Wand of Create Food and Water replaces a galley. Continual Light globes to light below decks spaces. Again, trivial expense. They'd want to store some real food and water just in case but these would reduce the stowage requirements enormously and extend the vessel's endurance almost infinitely.
